Day Three: Thursday, May 26th, 2011
We started our third day off with a visit to the Neue Galerie. It was pretty and they had so many Klimt's. Not sure I'd go back though. Maybe I was unimpressed because of the excitement of our next stop.
After the Neue Galerie we took a walk through Central Park. There were a few things in Central Park we wanted to see. We started at the Alice in Wonderland statue, which was across from a small pond with adorable miniature sailboats gliding over the water.

Next we headed over to Belvedere Castle, which was really just a glorified observation deck. It did, however, offer some nice views of Central Park.

Delacorte Theater (They do Shakespeare in the Park here all summer long. SO upset we missed that.)
After the park we headed over to the American Museum of Natural History. Amazing! I have a gazillion pictures from this place. It was so incredible and we could have kept going, but we were there until closing and still weren't able to see it all.
We saw dinosaurs...
and the herd of African elephants...
and the Blue Whale...
and all sorts and displays...
and (my absolute favorites) tons of habitat dioramas!!!
After the museum we checked out The Dakota, where John Lennon lived and was shot. It's across the street from Central Park and Strawberry Fields, which was our next stop.

From the memorial we headed downtown to the Manhattan LDS Temple. It was right next to some folk art museum and across the street from Julliard. It was in the middle of everything and such a crazy sight.

Our last stop of the day was Washington Square Park. Oh my! It was a dazzling jewel I tell you, a dazzling jewel! I could waste away endless days there. I was smitten. We hung out in the park for a bit to relax and people-watch. There were groups of musicians playing, which was such a treat. I'm remembering a banjo, violins and a steel drum spread throughout the park. After hanging out in the park awhile we wandered around Greenwich Village for a bit and I was even more enamored, if you can believe it.
