We've been back from our New York adventure for a little over a week now. It was surreal. We had the time of our lives! We packed our days full and were able to see an incredible amount of the city. We loved every second of it. Without further ado, I give you our first day.
Day One: Tuesday, May 24th, 2011
We arrived at the airport ridiculously early, like 6am early. Ugh. But we didn't get to our hotel until 9am. The shuttle took so long and we were, of course, the last ones to be dropped off. Have no fear, though. The unfortunate events stop here and we had an amazing first day. From our hotel, we walked to the nearest subway station and rode it to City Hall to check out the Brooklyn Bridge.

We then headed over to Battery Park to go on a cruise past the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. The line was ridiculous, but worth it. We were harrassed by pan-handlers, entertained by street performers, and then herded like cattle in a giant group onto the boat. But we really aren't complaining. Lady Liberty was well worth it!
A monument next to the line to get on the different cruises (I thought the seagull on the guys head was part of the statue for the longest time, it didn't move at all).

We didn't have time to get off on either island. Bummer. I know. Then we took the subway uptown to the Flatiron Building.

As we were walking back to the subway station we stumbled onto Madison Square Park. And it was lovely!
Madison Square Park (How cool is that sculpture?)
From here we headed back to the hotel to get ready for our next stop. Yankee Stadium! Shut up! I know! It was SO huge. We couldn't get over it. We were plum-tuckered out, so we didn't stay for the entire game. The Yankees did win that night though. You're welcome New York!
