The Proposal...

Ok. Here I go again with the Matt and Donna love story. This will be the last piece of the puzzle...I'm losing steam here. Sooo...we dated for most of summer semester and then I went home to Ohio and Matt stayed in Idaho for fall semester. Bummer, huh? Matt did come to visit me in Ohio for two weeks that November. It was so much fun! What sticks out though was the day that we went to Kirtland. An older gentleman was taking us on a tour of Kirtland and asked us if our relationship was an eternal one. Matt smiled and said yes and my eyes were the size of Texas. We had never talked about marriage or anything, so I was a bit embarrassed. Matt kept coming over and asking if he could talk to me and I would say we could talk later. That night we were sitting on the couch downstairs talking, after my family went to sleep, and Matt said that he wanted to marry me. I said that I wanted to marry him and started crying. So that was that. I never prayed about the decision (until after I had already made it) or lost sleep over it...I just knew. It felt right. And to this day that's one of the only things I know for sure...that I love Matt and Matt loves me!

Now all I needed to do was to wait for the "official" proposal. I was pretty sure that my mom was taking care of my ring. Bless her heart...she can't lie. It was time for the winter semester to start, so I flew into the Salt Lake City airport on January 4, 2006. Matt was going to pick me up and take me to Rexburg that night. I got off the plane and headed towards the baggage claim area, searching for Matt the whole time. I didn't see him, so I just grabbed my bags and waited. My mom called and asked if "anything had happened", I told her that I hadn't seen Matt yet. She told me to call Brenda, Matt's mom, to see if he had forgotten or left late. I called and she said that he should be there. I was a bit worried and a tinge frustrated at this point. I had been waiting for half an hour. I called the airport operator and had her announce Matt's name over the speakers. Embarrassing, I know, but he deserved it at this point. After waiting for about an hour, Matt came walking towards me. He apologized about a billion times for being late (he had gone to the wrong terminal and was waiting there...oops) and asked me if I was mad. I said no. He asked if I forgave him and I said of course. He then took out the ring and asked me if I would marry him. I said yes! YAY! We were married exactly 4 months later on May 4, 2006 for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple! Eternally happy for ever after!!!

That's so funny about Matt waiting in the wrong terminal. Not to long ago, Shawn did the same thing. He was at the wrong terminal...except I think after 30 minutes of him being there he realized where he was at...and went to meet me at the correct terminal. Shawn and Matt...funny.
